Hi
I am looking for more information of a family member that past away in WW1. His name was George Shannon. I have one of the Medallions that was handed to their family this was handed to my GG Grandfather Christian Shannon(1874) to his son Christian Shannon (1906) to my Father JJNJ Shannon (1935) to me. My GFather served in WW2 my dad was a soldier his whole working career and I had my 4 years of service. So if somebody can help with more detail on George Shannon from South Africa or USA please send me the information.

Have you checked the CWGC (Commonwealth  War Graves  Commission) site? It lists 5  G/George Shannon casualties of First World War.

A George Shannon, giving his residence as Cape Town SA but born in Stoke Newington London, served in the Worcestershire Regiment and died of wounds on 9 Sep 1914.  He does not have a CWGC grave.  There are no detailed records for him.  Possible??

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

Hi

Yes I think it is my tree and I looked at the medallion no marking on the edge.

Thanks for the help anyway.
