There is a birth of a Janet Linton at Gretna to a John Linton and Jane Bell which fits with the 1841 census

Info of the 1841 census from Freecen

John Linton age 50 Innkeeper born England
Jane Linton (nee Bell] age 40 born Dumfries

Children
John age 20 born England
Elizabeth age 17 born England
James age 15 born England
Frances age  12 born England
George age 10 born Dumfries
Jane age 10 born Dumfries
Janet age 2 born Dumfries

So looks like a second marriage for John with John James Elizabeth and Frances from his first marriage in England

If on my Elizabeth's census records 51,61,71,81,91,1901 which I no are correct as have her husband on half before his death. And they got married 20 minutes outside of Gretna, Surely the 1841 census I found makes sense?

I have just check 41 census again, it did have a tick at the side of her for Scotland birth, but scribbled out and England ticked instead.

I have checked every other 1841 census for with a Elizabeth Lenton that was born a few years Either side, there's know fitting that I can see..

Yes this is the record I have, and what I am hoping to confirm is my Elizabeth?

As I cant place a another Elizabeth with age on any other 41 census or with a few years ago either side.

Maybe she wasn't aware she was born outside of Scotland, and why she had Scotland in her own census once married.

The only Elizabeth Linton born between 1800 and 1835 with father being a John and mother a Nancy was born 10/02/1826

That was the date she was baptised, it doesn't state how old the child was.

As to who John Linton was - who can say?   Clearly he was, or was about to be, sent to Van Diemans Lane, Tasmania (convict) in 1826 when Elizabeth baptised.   He certainly wouldn't have been around in the UK in 1841.

Annette

From Annette's earlier comments. There is a John Linton transported to Van Diemen in the right time period:

John Linton
Convicted Date: 16 Jul 1825
Voyage Date: 1 Dec 1825 on the 'Woodman'
Colony: Tasmania (Van Diemen's Land)
Place of Conviction: York, Yorkshire, England

A possible for the John named in that OPR christening entry.

A possible for the John named in that OPR christening entry.

He had a wife in Mutton Row, Leeds, so he would have been playing away from home if it is him.
