Hello,

The Church of England (London) Deaths and Burials 1813-2003, shows that a Samuel Robert RUSSELL, aged 31, of 3 Lockington Road, BATTERSEA, was buried on 25/08/1870.   Is there any means of determining where this particular gentleman was born?   It could be the one mentioned in the caption above?! ::)

I found him on the 1841 Census with his father Robert, mother Rebecca and then looked to see whether or not the family had migrated from Wisbech to London.   It seems not.

Is he the Samuel Robert Russell who was to be transported  :-\

Yes........but he was reprieved and his sentence commuted.   He was released on licence on 04/01/1854 and seemingly did not re-offend. ::)
