Emma Sills
« on: Monday 12 March 18 04:22 GMT (UK) »
Hi. I'm very much hoping someone can help me to locate the background history of EMMA SILLS, born on the South Island of New Zealand 13/7/1869.
She married a GEORGE BEVINGTON ROWE 1896 (although I've also heard 1899) in Rangiora, Canterbury, NZ.

Emma's father's name was ROBERT.

Word coming down through history is that Emma Sills was of Mexican/Spanish decent ( but there has also been a rumour of Greece).

It would be SO good if we could find out one way or another. Please help if you can. THANK YOU!!! A BIG ask, I know...gulp!

Do you have her birth certificate? Father Robert, mother Jane.

So a tree on ancestry has the mother's name as Jane Brown.

New Zealand, Marriage Index, 1840-1934
Marriage
Emma Sills
Married 1896
Spouse - George Bevington Rowe
Folio Number    4461

The tree on ancestry sems to be well sourced with the parents of both Robert born Stonesby Leicestershire and Jane born Stonesby Leicestershire

No exotic background showing up.

Thank you Crisane. So good of you to look. I don't have access to ancestry so I'm so grateful for your help. That gives me something to go on  :)

I've seen a photo of Emma on her wedding day. She certainly looks exotic. Maybe from way back in the genetic pool.
