It says Alfie on the card from the rescue . I always call him Alf.
 He was one at the time,
he was nine two weeks ago , Dog's birthday I must be mad.
I have had a friend look up the 1939 Reg and it is the right George living in Long Ashton in 1939.
Living in a pub ! same profession engineering draughtsman  so areal give away

George Robb was my uncles stepfather. I am trying to understand what happened to the relationship.My uncles mum Lucy was a widow aged 55 when She married George in Febuary 1939 but by September they were living apart !
There is no mention of him at all in any family albums etc

Presumably Lucy just stayed living where she was before the marriage.  WW2 could not have helped.  There are 2 possibly living people with Lucy in 1939, I wonder what they knew.

Son 21  and Daughter 19.
Son ends up Major in the army. He was due to resume studies at Jesus ,Oxford but war broke out.
He gets OBE later in life.

Both son and daughter passed away some years now.

I don't think I will .Too much time has passed.
Another odd fact  the husband  of Lucy's daughter by her first marriage......
dropped dead of a heart attack ...............on the Great Wall of China !
