The birth of Georgina English was registered Jun qtr 1892 Tynemouth, mmn Brazel.

Parents’ marriage: Thomas Limerick English & Mary Brazell, Sep qtr 1886 Tynemouth.

Thomas’s sister Mary Jane English married a Robert Hall in Tynemouth, Dec qtr 1876, so there seems to have been a link between the Hall and English names before the 1916 marriage of Alfred and Georgina.  I wonder whether the two of them were related by marriage?

Thanks Boo,

Hopefully this will turn out to be something like that. As I say I'll have to try and get at the other marriage.

I've just looked on free BMD again and if I forgot all about the 4 kids I already have there is one child, Elizabeth M born in 1920, who has parents of Hall and English and registered in Tynemouth so could be their daughter.

AVM228, that fit's with the information I have.

That makes it sound more and more like I have the wrong 1939 register.

The free 1939 index suggests you may find Georgina Hall b1893 (this is a year out) and Elizabeth Mary “Betty” Hall b 1920 together in Prudhoe, Northumberland.

Georgina’s birthday of 23 April (St George’s Day) may be the source of her given name :)

Elizabeth may have moved to Lincolnshire & married Raymond Willis in Spilsby, Sep qtr 1952.  Possible death in Boston Lincs, Aug 1989, as Elizabeth Mary Willis with birthdate 6 Nov 1920.

Hi All,

I've just found a probate record for an Alfred Edward saying he died in 1929 in Hertfordshire and Georgina is named as his widow.

Looks like I had the wrong 1939 register after all.

Thanks for the help everyone.

I'd just seen that, but it says Herefordshire, not Hertfordshire?

Sorry, I think that's my bad spelling / autocorrect.
