Pt Owen Jones 16873 RWF 13 Bat
« on: Tuesday 13 March 18 13:08 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I'm researching my great uncle Owen Jones born 14 of June 1891 Blaenau Ffestiniog and died 17 June 1917 (WW1 Ypres) buried at Essex farm cemetery Belgium.
According to the commonwealth war graves commission he was married to a Elizabeth Jones(no idea of maiden name) I have so far purchased 2 wedding certificates and both were wrong.
Can somebody please help me locate the correct wedding details.
Thanks in advance for any help or advice given.

Gareth

Just posting CWGC details
Private JONES, O
Service Number 16873
Died 17/06/1917
Aged 26
13th Bn. Royal Welsh Fusiliers
Son of William Jones, of 106, Manod Rd., Blaenau Festiniog, Merioneth; husband of Elizabeth Jones.

Do you have him on census in 1911, I see he is not at home   :-\

Which certificates have you already purchased

Hi, yes he is at home with his mother and father at 108 Manod Road Blaenau Ffestiniog when the 1911 census was done.
Details of wrong certificates below
11B 671 1906 Festiniog(way to early as he was still at home)
11B 489 1915 Festiniog

I dont know if it helps, my mother was led to believe that she had at least 2 uncles which were named Ivor Price Jones(1914-2011 born Blaenau Ffestiniog) and Emrys Jones(1915-? born Blaenau Ffestiniog) I have purchased both of their birth cert and both have the same named mother a Lizzie Jones but both have no fathers name on their birth certificates. Im thinking/assuming that Owen Jones would be their father

The CWGC web site has his address as 106 but I see he is at 108 ::)

Surely 'Lizzie' Jones mother of Ivor & Emrys was Owens sister  :-\

Good morning,
Owen does have a sister called Elizabeth (1980-1923) which by all accounts they called Lizzie and she is also at home at 108 Manod Road when the 1911 census was done. She married a John Evans in 1917 and lived in Maentwrog and had 3 children.

If Elizabeth was married to Owen and gave birth to Ivor & Emrys then she would have been able to name the father on the birth certificate even if he was away from home when the children were born. Do their birth certificates give a maiden surname for Lizzie

ADDED
As Ivor & Emrys were both born before Owen's sister Lizzie married in 1917 they could be hers.

An item (in Welsh) in the Llangollen Advertiser, 21 Aug 1914, confirms Owen was still at 108 Manod Road. Unfortunately, no mention of marital status.

;D Yes I'm a little confused, like i said in a previous post my mother regarded Ivor Price Jones a uncle to her but if Lizzie Jones(Evans) is Ivor & Emrys jones mother that would make both of them my mothers first cousins.
To add to my confusion on Ivor Price Jones wedding certificates it shows a William Jones which would be Ivor grandfather name down as his the father.
