William Barlow Brown
« on: Tuesday 13 March 18 21:14 GMT (UK) »
I'm trying to locate a marriage for my Great Grandfather, William Barlow Brown to Annie Dixon circa 1901, but without success.

In the 1901 census, both he and Annie were living (in separate addresses) at Warden in Northumberland (he was registered as William Brown, now William Barlow).  Their first child together was born Dec Qtr 1902 at Newburn, Newcastle (Castle Ward), but I cannot find a marriage for them.

There is a marriage in Newburn area of William Hamilton Brown to Annie Dixon, but I don't think it's the same person, as I can find other records for William Hamilton Brown, but nothing for William Barlow Brown.  From talking with family, he died around 1952-1954, and I can find a death record for William Brown in the Newburn location, but again, without the Barlow.

Any suggestions where I can look?

If it makes any difference, he would only be 21 in 1900, whilst she would be 28.

Thanks in anticipation of any help that can be offered.

BROWN children registered in Q4 1902 Castle Ward

Ernest (mother nee JACKSON)
Joseph James (GREER)
Frances Ann (DIXON)
Jane Ann (FOSTER)
Mary Ethel (FALCUS)

Presumably you have ignored the possibility that the mother was a widow?
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

The 1939 shows a William and Annie Brown living in Newburn, Northumberland

Annie's birth year is 1871 and William's is April 1878

I think you should consider obtaining the marriage cert for William and Annie

There is an 1881 census record for a William Brown with parents John and Frances

Registration district   Brampton
Archive reference   RG11
Piece number   5148
Folio   64
Page   22

This appears to be the parents marriage

Marriages Mar 1867
Brown    John        Brampton    10b   501
NOBLE    Frances Ann        Brampton    10b   501

If you get the 1902 marriage for William and Annie you can then check to see if William's father is John.
