1301 Govan Road - look up please
« on: Wednesday 14 March 18 17:56 GMT (UK) »
Hello!
Would someone very kindly look in the Mitchell Library's index for 1301 Govan Road - I think it was the hospital/poorhouse in 1929.  I am looking for the information on a patient there -
Janet Margaret Wallace - she died there in 1929 of cerebral hemorraege. Any information listed for her would be FAB!  I am in Canada and cannot access these records.

Thank you!

IIRC 1301 Govan Road is the Southern General Hospital, part of which was originally built as Govan Poor House. It was quite common for the address where a person died to be given as a street number and name if the place of death was an institution.

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
