This is the newspaper article which led me to the website in my first post:

Have been in touch with the lady for whom I am making enquiries and although unaware of his war record, she is certain that he was living in Queensland in very recent years.

My access to electoral rolls is only up to 1980 so it may be too early but I cannot see a "plain" Victor HALL listed in Queensland although there are plenty of men with a second forename.  Someone else may be able to see him!

Strangely, there is a "as per the passenger list":-

Victor Samuel Hall, Squadron Leader
Patricia Jones Hall, wife
Michael Christopher Hall, son
Dereke Hall, daughter
Sandra Michelle Hall, daughter

arrived on the SS Arcadia on the 9th February 1956 at Freemantle. Their address is noted as
29 Salisbury Crescent, Reade Park, Adelaide.
The marriage looks to have been in Totenes, Devon in March 1941, the wife's M/S being Chilver.

"Appointment to commision, as Flight Sergeant 3rd August 1944 then as Flight Lieutenant (permanent) 30 July 1948. Victor Samuel Hall, 55761."
