I have just discovered a record of my grandmother, Ellen Burdon,

Just for the record, and in case anyone else should happen to be looking for her, she was born Sarah Ellen Burdon in County Durham in 1902.

She married Maurice Parsons as Sadie E Burdon in 1929 and appears as Sadie E Parsons on the 1939 register.

Her death in 1985 is registered under name Sadie Ellen Parsons.

I discovered all of this just yesterday.  It would have saved me quite a lot of searching if I'd realised that Sadie is a diminutive form of Sarah
