I'm sitting in a caravan on a caravan park right now ;D

The meaning has changed over time.  I think we'd be more likely to use the word 'convoy' these days to mean a group of vehicles travelling together.

'Caravan' in the sense of a wheeled vehicle for living in would traditionally have referred to a wooden horse-drawn wagon, as used by Romany and other travelling people.  There would have been areas where they were expected or permitted to stay while working in the area, but I doubt they would have been called 'parks' in the past.

Maybe someone could look up union street on both 1861 and 1871 census and see if there are any other families living in caravans. I don't have access to these right now. Thanks

If you look at your other thread James is the only one living  "Caravan" in Union Street between 7 Union Street & Albion Cottages?
Their are many Hawkers/Shoe/Boot Makers/Shoe Binders in this street.
