It looks like 79 Arg...... G2

I thought it might be Argyll but it's not

Sorry - misread - thought you said  1844 - the latest online  is 1911-12

Not a problem with the wrong year - it happens.
I thought it was Ap**** but have had a quick look at the post office 1911/12 can't see anything like it .
If it's any help, they lived at Annette Street before moving in 1944.
