hi

I don't think it is G2. Modern postcodes weren't around in 1944.

Could be C2 - C standing for city centre! Sorry cannot make out street name.

Yes, it could be C2. thank you.

I'll stick with my first thought when reading it Albert Rd . Number 70,78,79 or 90,98, 99.

It seems the majority would agree with you. I would go for 79.

Thank you

Think it is a very large lower -case s. Upper-case in those days would have had a top loop.

Albert Road is in the S2 area (Albert Drive as said earlier is in S1) there are no street names of a similar nature listed for C2

So I am wrong to think it could be Albert Drive and go for Road.

Missed your comment about Annette St. Albert Rd is only a hop, skip and a jump away from there-towards Queens Park.
I have discovered lots of my maternal side living in the area between 1860 and 1930s Albert Rd, Allison St, Calder St, Victoria Rd etc. Few flew far from the nest

I don't think my parents lived long at Annette Street that long - from the little information  I have they were at Annette Street 5 October 1943 -  Albert Road 27 June 1944 - then my father was transferred to Dumfries May 1945.

Thanks for explaining Albert Rd is only a hop, skip and a jump away from there-towards Queens Park. I recall my mother telling me she often took my brother, who was 6 months old when they were at Annette Street.

Thank you  very much for all that information. Very much appreciated.
