I need the help of an inquiring intelligent brain :)
« on: Saturday 17 March 18 15:00 GMT (UK) »
The reason for my sending - for DNA in first place was to hopefully sort out my Fred Raven Patricks heritage..

So to confirm this -- I had hoped that someone - may show a link to him via DNA ---  is that feasible / how feasible is that?

What or how would this show up  -- I know ALL Freds descendants..but presumably I would need to find that Fred and John (his presumed father) have a snippet of DNA ...

is this in anyway comprehensible.. if so  what should I look for

So

do I need to search for a Patrick link further back than Freds birth?

ok going now..

xin

lots of info re the searches for Fred on here -- not actually searching for him  so dont worry about that.(not looking for that just now) I know all but his definate Parentage.. cannot find a birth cert at all.  ok :)

Standard issue Xin, you have one already  :)

I think you've said you tested with ancestry, so go to your DNA results and click on the "search matches" hourglass.  Put the surname of interest in the box that says search by surname and when you click "search" it will return all of your DNA matches that have that surname in their tree.  Some may be private but if you select "view match" on a public one you'll be presented with a list of surnames common to both trees.  Clicking each surname in turn will list all individuals with that surname so you can make an assessment of how likely the match looks.  I'd suggest if you come across a tree that looks promising you mark it as a favourite or you'll never find it again!

For private trees, approach the owner for more info.

Jane :-)

Well that took no time at all :(

I only got 4 matches for different  Family Trees with the name Patrick... and then half a dozen for Raven.

The Ravens are possibles.. one Tree does need a good sort.

But none of the Patricks lead anywhere close to mine.. apart from believe it or not -- via marriage........................

Now that is queer.

So I left myself a relevant note :

I have searched this ladies tree and she does have Patricks NOT my Patricks... no sign of John or Fred.. but she does have descendants of FREDS WIFE ...

So the link there is Padstow.

On reflection  ::)  this is chewy enough to try going sideways as well... So will check Johns Dads Wife ... why not.. :)

I will leave you in peace now ..

Suffering a severe loss

:(

:(

No links any which way :(

My own fault... I never could find the actual birth cert relied on the marriage cert - and just tested all the lines all the way back and NO LINK..

that is dark corner time...

so never chase without a cert...  (too late now)

Not related to Francis Catesby :(

no gun powder plot links .. :(

ok.. onwards and upwards...
