William Girvan Poots (born: 1907), Belfast.

My great grandfathers cousin, Bessie Girvin Curry (1873-1909) married Thomas Simpson Poots on Christmas day 1902. They had three sons and one daughter. One son, Hugh Samuel Poots (1905-75) was a Drapery Manager, and in his Will dated 1974, he mentions his brother, William Girvan Poots.

I have tried (without success), to find any details about William, such as a marriage or a death in Northern Ireland. It looks like he may have been living elsewhere, possibly England or Scotland. If anyone knows anything about him, I'd be happy to hear from you.

Have found a reference in the Queensland Funeral records, might this be your man?

Perhaps you have already seen that Hugh was with an aunt and uncle in the 1911 census

Was just thinking the same as I was looking at the UK outward bound list and transcribed as William J but looks like a G, last address Marymount, Dromore County Down

A big thank you to everyone for your help. Finally, I now know where William lived and who he married. I really didn't expect to ever find this. The question I'm now asking myself is, did Frances and William have any children?
