Liverpool census question
« on: Sunday 18 March 18 05:10 GMT (UK) »
Is anybody able to tell me what an entry means on a census return of 1901 from Liverpool?
It says 'Crown Street, part of Bor's (Bootle Division)'. I have tried to find what Bor's means but have only found one reference which wasnt any help except that maybe Liverpool was starting to split into Boroughs??? More information would be great if anyone can explain.

I think it reads Boro (Borough)

I am assuming you are referring to writing under heading - Parliamentary Borough or Division.

It helps when you have queries like this is you give us the reference number of the page you are looking at  ;)

The reference needed to locate a record is Piece number - Folio number and page number.   The other number normally quoted is the RG number which for 1901 is RG13  :)

If there is no folio number on a page then go back to the page before as the number covers 2 pages and is only stamped on the first of the two.  :)

I think the following still works?

When you're on an image of the census, CTRL + "S" opens a panel on the right-hand-side, which gives source details.
Including Class, Piece, Folio and Page numbers.
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)

All this suspense   ;)

You could post your person’s name or on the open page go back to page 1 which gives all the information about the district.
