Maud Humphreys, Hartismere, 1973
« on: Monday 19 March 18 01:10 GMT (UK) »
I'm trying to determine what town she died in & where she was buried. All I have is her name, death year 1973 & Hartismere, to go on & I can't seem to locate the town name nor a cemetery name/location. How can I get them?

That's definitely her. I didn't know about Abbey Farm & Wingfield. Nor that she died on 27 Mar. I don't live in England, so what is Abbey Farm & Wingfield?  Thanks for the wonderful info! That's great to have. Now I'm one step closer to finding her. Do you happen to have Chellis' exact death date? Just so I have both? He died in May 1972, same place I think. He was her husband. And how do I search for probate records like you did?

Earlier records show Chellis Humphreys was a farmer and seemed to be a family concern.   So, that explains Abbey Farm which was in Wingfield, Suffolk (Wingfield being a village).

So he farmed Abbey Farm? They !at have only been there maybe 20 or 30 years till they died. If they were Anglican, is it safe to get they were members of St Andrews & that they were buried at the church or in the area of was there a closer Anglican church to Abbey Farm? Why was farming a family concern? Just trying to understand everything.

The specific information re. Maud's burial that you want is too recent to be available online.

I note that she and husband Chellis were both from Norfolk and were still living there in 1939.

It's more than possible that Maud/Chellis would have been buried back in their native Norfolk.

Sending a PM.

So if I can't find her burial place online & I don't live in England, what are my options, so I have any? Other than just contacting churches she may have been a member of? I have just about every kind of info on her except burial. I have birth date & place, christening date & place, census info from 1891-1911, parents, siblings, a book of hers, marriage date & place, husband, children, last residence. Burial is all I need. Is there any way to get it other than contacting churches?

You asked where you could search for probate entries, wills can be purchased from this site

In case you have not seen this mention of Chellis

Unless the family were non-conformists, I would think St. Andrews, Wingfield would be their local church.
