Christopher Lambert of County Limerick
« on: Monday 19 March 18 07:47 GMT (UK) »
I'm looking for information on the Lambert family. My 4x great grandmother Jane Lambert immigrated to Australia roughly 1845 (haven't found a record of which ship yet) to Van Diemen's Land, apparently stayed there for about a year according to her death certificate before moving to the Colony of Victoria, where she married John Gallagher in 1851.

The names of her parents on her marriage certificate to her second husband Edward Hardwick in 1862 are Christopher Lambert (gentleman) and Mary Ann Ryan. She's consistently mentioned as being born in Limerick and her birthdate is around 1824.

I'm only new to searching Irish records but I seem to have hit a brick wall with them, I can't find a mention of them anywhere. Does anyone have any ties to the Lambert family that may be able to help point me in the right direction?

Hi Lee

I know its the wrong county but there was a Jane Lambert born in Rathfarnham in Dublin on 6th of April 1828 to Christopher Lambert and mother was Mary Anne https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0489

Something to keep in mind

Thanks so much - going to give it a shot!
Christopher Lambert seems like a fairly uncommon name in the records so hopefully can make the connection.

The Rathfarnham Jane appears to have a sister Mary Anne born 1840 with mothers name Mary Anne Bryan

Daithai

Mary Anne was actually a half twin to Ellen and if you view the original record on 24th November the mother was Mary Anne Ryan . Notice the way the priest entered the baptisms . Dates are all mixed up so he must have been a great note taker and entered them at the end of each month .https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000633449#page/34/mode/1up

Thanks dathai and merrick7!
On the original record it does seem like Chris and Mary Ann Ryan!
Does the Rathfarnham area have any historical link with Limerick?
