Birth And Baptism In The 1800s

Were there stigmas attached to pregnancy, and under what circumstances? How many brides went to the altar expecting more than the banns to have been called?  If death in childbirth or death in childbed are recorded, what was the difference between them? Speaker Tom Doig is expected to enlighten us on matters such as these.
