thank you, I need to brush up on my Registration districts  ;D

I've found George Vaughan in 1939(using his birth date, which was noted on his baptism)  living in Chichester with someone called Phyllis and 3 possible children (all closed).
Not found a  marriage the couple yet as far as I can see, possible maiden name for Phyllis Harefield taken from a vaughan birth in the area pre 1939.. still only a possibility though.

This might explain why Agnes had reverted to using the name Dawson

I agree with your inference that they may well have separated, but what makes you think Agnes reverted to surname Dawson?

Free index for 1939 throws up a possible Agnes M Vaughan in the Margate area.

Essex: Eldred (Pebmarsh)
Gloucs: Timbrell (Winchcomb)
Hants: Stares (Wickham)

Thanks AVM, yes, I found that earlier today.
Searching through the London electoral registers they appear to have gone their separate ways between 1926-1928.
I think George died in Rochford 1945, where his sister lived.

I also found a couple of newspaper articles for George, one for speeding at 26 miles per hour  :) and another one for not having a licence for a motorised "launch" which caused havoc on the Thames at Windsor, it appears he put a motor on a canoe and a friend crashed it into a scull at Old Windsor.. I know exactly where that would have happened too lol!

So, I have quite a bit on George Charles Vaughan and his family now but still at a standstill for his parents  :-\   They don't appear in the electoral registers after 1911 either.
