I'm looking for the offspring of Thomas and Jane to see if their names will help me with the names of the parents of Thomas and Jane. So far, I've found four, but these two records in FreeReg from Breage have me puzzled:-

31 Jan 1724/25   Elizabeth
30 Mar 1725       Eliz

My understanding of the old calendar tells me these dates are only 2 months apart. What's wrong?

at least one other couple with the same names, Mitchell isn't unusual in the area

Thomas Mitchell married Jane Davy 6 Jan 1717 in Breage

Thanks.

That must mean the children baptized in Breage aren't the offspring of 'my' Thomas and Jane, so their names won't lead me back.

I have now received a copy of the Will of Thomas MICHELL who died before 30th April, 1759. It confirms that his wife's name was Jane but gives no clue as to her maiden name. It also confirms that he had a daughter Mary and reveals that she had a sister, Jane. However, in 1759, Mary's husband is David STEPHENS, not John ROW. So, did Mary marry a second time or is this not 'my' family?

Mary Michell married David Stephens of St Ives 4 Feb 1743 in Gwinear. So could it be you've mixed 2 Thomas Michells? It's not an uncommon name in the area.

The short answer is 'yes', but to have two marriages involving a Thomas MITCHELL and a Jane XXXX within a year and physically so close is quite a co-incidence and requires further research.

I believe I am related to your Thomas and I know his ancestry.

Can you please supply some more information on Thomas and Jane?

My knowledge of Thomas and Jane is strictly limited, but I can let you have what I believe I know about their descendants if you're interested.
