oh thank you all very much for all that information I was wondering about Patrick born in Manchester I know he was  durham  he was there aged 4 after that he must have died, I,ll

I was asking re the certificates as I couldn’t find a Manchester birth but then found Patrick’s.
I am not sure but I think I did see Patrick in later censuses but haven’t checked.
The newspaper articles show the difficulties the family had with drunkenness and assaults.

1859
Catherine Rooney - hard labour for 6 weeks for assaulting her mother. Her defence was that Margaret McManus was always drunk and starved the children.
1860
Assaults by Catherine, 17 yrs old, on her mother and a sibling.
1862
Patrick Rooney assaults his mother - prison for one month
