Hello,

You have Catherine Rooney, 1849 mother Margaret Goulding and father Daniel Rooney, 1816, Ireland.
Then you have Catherine aged 9 yrs onboard in 1849  ???
One of the dates is wrong, I assume.
Was that Catherine alone?
How do you know it is the same person?
She returned to live near her mother. Do you have her in censuses?
Daniel died when she was on the ship- was that 1849?

Was. Catherine born in Ireland or England?

Sorry, it is all questions but hopefully we can help.

Ancestry does not show the original image for Catherine on board the Mary Pleasant.  It shows 91 passengers on the same ship - no-one else with a surname Rooney.

She is described as a labourer, which made me wonder if the age had been transcribed incorrectly - but a 2 year old is also a labourer, and I think all the passengers are - though I have not clicked on every name.

The ancestry information is from here:
'Philadelphia, Passenger and Immigration Lists, 1800-1850'
so if direct access is available the original may be accessible.

Added:
Yes, on IGI.

I know that ages are often wrong but Catherine would only be 7 yrs old in 1849.
I just wonder what other evidence there is that this is her.
I can’t see any other though.

There is a Mary Born 1847 but she died soon after birth. Do you have Mother Margaret in 1851?

Tree on Ancestry has Catherine marrying James Sewell on 16th December 1861 in Durham.
Also that Daniel Rooney died in 1852 in Liverpool.

Not yet checked any of that.

I can see 2 deaths for Daniel Rooney in Liverpool in 1852, one age 0 and one age 33.

Catherine Sewell in 1881, 1891 and 1901, born Wigan according to the censuses.

Born 1843 in Durham in 1871.

Appears to be lodging with the Hardy family in Durham in 1861, born Wigan.
