The Vanished Adam ARCHER of Dodworth
« on: Wednesday 21 March 18 20:14 GMT (UK) »
My grt grt grandfather Adam ARCHER born about 1830 in Silkstone.  He married Caroline FOX in 1852 at Silkstone.  Between 1852 and 1861 they had 5 children.  I can not find any trace of Adam either on the 1851 census or any census after that. He is one of several missing links in my family but he is the most confusing why disappear from such a young family? He seems to have vanished, was it because his wife was 10yrs older than him?  Can anyone help find him?

So the birth of the youngest child Godfrey Archer was registered Jun qtr 1861, presumably born shortly after the census, though it looks as though Adam may have left Caroline before his birth.

Godfrey was baptised at Dodworth on 7 Dec 1862, son of Adam (a miner) and Caroline, though it looks as though the “Adam &” may have been squeezed in as an afterthought  :)
