Question,  Did prisoners in the late 1870s or in that time have there photo taken at the prison ?

I don't know about Belle Vue, but TNA have prisoner photographs from 1872 - Wandsworth - so it is possible.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.
Remember - "They'll be found when they want to be found" !!!
