Potts-Lloyd Marriage 1827-31
« on: Friday 23 March 18 14:25 GMT (UK) »
William Potts (born Broseley, c 1805) married Drusilla Lloyd (born c1807, Broseley).

Unfortunately I have two conflicting but credible dates for this marriage:

William Potts married Druzilla Lloyd, 16/12/1827, Dawley-Magna
William Potts married Drusilla Lloyd, 05/06/1831, Broseley.

Drusilla's father was James Lloyd.  I've not got to the father of Thomas as yet.

A first child, Ann, seems to have an 1830 birth year, which suggests 1827 might be the right marriage, but is far from conclusive.  The next child, Amelia, was born c1832.

Drusilla/Druzilla is an unusual first name, but no second Potts-Lloyd family seems to be around.

Suggestions welcome, please.

Hi
It seems there is a bit of a mystery about the couple.
The banns were called at Benthall 10.4.1831 and again on the 17th when Francis Blithe Harries came forward and forbid the marriage. The note says he was a Church warden and the objection was witnessed by Robert and John Jones.
As you say they had tried to marry before at Dawley in Jan 1830 and Dec 1827.
So it must be the 1831 marriage at Broseley that is correct.
wit Mary Anne  LLoyd and John Gray.
William makes a cross but the rest sign.

Ciderdrinker - many thanks for this quick response.  All quite fascinating!  I doubt we'll ever know the grounds for the objection but one could conjure up a novel around this one.  At least it's the other side of my cousin's family and not our shared bit of family!
