Need Help With Early 1800 Belgian Document Written In Flemish/Dutch
« on: Friday 23 March 18 15:48 GMT (UK) »
My Family Tree has led me to Belgium. I have found a rather long document that break down the wall that I have reached in my search for my GGG Grandfather, Johannes Van Cauwenburg, born in Belgium about 1800. Could someone please translate this document for me? I recognize several names but thats all. Thanks!

I think you need to change your heading - this is Flemish/Dutch not French.

Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

I'm not convinced that the third page follows on from the others, if it's relevant at all; also that page is cut off on the right so it's harder to make out.

It is Flemish like the others Woodworker has posted ,except one which is French,as it says "naissance" which is "birth"on the first line, I have not had time to get through it as yet but I will try.
I  have sent quite a few facts to Woodworker and hope to get the full sense when my son can help me.
Woodworker`s posts say "Flemish"I don`t think he has mentioned French.
I    have posted another reply outlining details which will be helpful to Woodworker.
I have to enlarge to have any chance of reading the documents but they come up so large that only one side comes up at a time ,as the sense carries on to the next line below I am constantly enlarging and decreasing. It does take time but I appreciate how frustrating to have such old documents with all that information in them and then to have to wait to have the sense of them.
A lot is legal jargonese --,padding.
I do think the third document follows on.

10ty May 1848,number 33,name and forename De Prins Aloyisius
Carolus  Verleyden.Schriver( A clerk perhaps )aged55.
 Carolus Ludovicus  Van Guch.Glazemaker( Glassmaker perhaps)aged 22.
These would probably be witnesses.
I haven`t time to do more at present .

Tour  translation is good but it is not of the latest Woodworker has posted,as the date on that is
Tiende Van Mei In het Jaar achtienhondered acht en viertig
,Translatedas:-    Tenth of may in the year eighteen hundred eight and forty(1848)which is the year of Aloyisius` birth(, from another document.)
Thanks for the input,I am finding the writing difficult and enlarging means I can only see half a page at a time so sense is not carried on very well, but with more helpers we will get there.
Thanks again  everyone. Viktoria.

I just read the post here and didn't realize the poster had posted in other places. So has he already got all the information? It's very confusing. cb
