Finding a burial for a suicide
« on: Friday 23 March 18 19:11 GMT (UK) »
My grandmother Harriet Prudence Hanson committed suicide in 1933 she lived in Kenley, Surrey. Her family were from Aston in Birmingham. Can anyone advise me where I can find out where she is buried was never talked about when I was younger I only knew she died when my dad was very young. I dont think my grandad will have worried where she was buried. I did try ringing some of the cemetries offices with no luck

Welcome to Rootschat.

Are you certain of the date she died - I can't see a death  in 1933

Here is a link to a topic about burials of suicides dated 2010

Your grandmother may well be buried somewhere, just a case of finding out where!  There is also the possibility that she was cremated.

Have you tried the Bereavement Services at Croydon, they are usually very helpful?

She could also be buried at Bandon Hill which comes under Sutton, but serves Croydon and isn't too far from Kenley.

Well found JJ, so my suggestion of trying there looks as if it could be right.
