Royal Artillery Attestations 1883-1942

 I note whilst using google yesterday that Royal Artillery Attestations 1883-1942 (RAA 1883-1942) are on FindMyPast.  Was excited to find my late father, R Smith No 884971, listed.  I walked over to our local library to use computers but disappointingly could not find RAA 1883-1942. Can someone please do me a big favour and send me a copy of my late father's paper.

WW2 records are still with the MOD. 

FindMyPast only have a listing  which has
884971 - Smith-Robert-  17/4/48 - Para 519 (V) KR 40

As Rosie has said, his full service record is still with MOD.  The attestations record is simply a register in which men were recorded as they signed up (in his case in 1938).  The additional remark para 519 v KR 40 means paragraph 519 v of Kings Regulations 1940 and relates to discharge of a reservist on the grounds of no longer fit for service.  Guessing he had completed his full time service, was out but still on the reserve but was then deemed unfit and discharged.

Sorry, I think it is probably HAA/S and not an 8.  It has just been added after but in the same column as the other information and there are several others on the same page with the same thing added.

In all probability Heavy Anti Aircraft - don't know about the S.  The attestation books often have notes scrawled in them to show which branch of the RA the man went to/was transferred into.  Where they went first was often put in one of the earlier columns (Fd - Field, LAA Light Anti Aircraft, Med - Medium and so on).
