There is another James of similar age and birthplace married to Elizabeth.
He is James Gutridge Boddy with father Thomas according to marriage in 1879.

Mabel bagshawe =Funny thing we all knew of Mary j's half-brother (Thorp) but he comes up everywhere as Frank? and was known as Frank.?

Looking at the 1891 family posted earlier Frank is another half brother b c1888 - as a reminder

William & Frank are registered as Thorps but presumably are using their step father's surname here

Well, I'm surprised to find Frank had a brother with him, we always thought he stayed with his mother (M.J.Thorp nee Sykes) while the rest of her Brood grew up and left, Frank was single all his life and lived with his Half Sister M.J.Boddey when she Married.
That info is a big piece of the Jigsaw to the puzzle, Thank you Mabel Bagshawe
