Infant's Burial Ground

Possibly it became a children's burial ground only after the church was no longer used.  The map doesn't indicate how old the ruins are, but this article:

mentions that some of the sites used for the burial of unbaptised infants  were the grounds of ruined medieval chuches.

That leaves me in Limbo!!

@ Hallmark, the Forestry were going to put the plough through that bit of hill when one of the old folk pointed out the burial ground, so now there's a wall of Sitka with a square bit cut out & a cairn built with a wee plaque. I used to know the name of it! "You'll be buried in @@@@ was used as an insult!

Yes Cillini are where children were buried in unconsecrated ground, often outside graveyard walls or among the ruins of old deconsecrated churches....

Need to check if these are on the ruins of an old deconsecrated church.....

Remembered the name of the burial ground! Rieballich, by the River Markie, Laggan, Inverness-shire. Possibly means the boys shieling.

Have one of those here right beside my farmyard.
My grand uncle,who was born in 1884,remembered unbaptised children being buried there up to early in  the 20th century.
No recent marker stones or anything like that in the graveyard  area which is part of an 8th century church ruins
