Is this Harriett’s death?:

1952 C3800 Harriett Hannah Seyde parents Peter Thorne and Ann Mullett

Marriages:

1892 C1584 Alfred Chapronear to Harriett Hannah Thorne

1907 B6088 Harriett Hannah Chaproniere to Wallace Dunbar Seyde

Notice of Harriett’s death in Rockhampton: http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article57237719

In answer to the original question, I am of the mind that John possibly claimed to be single.

Sorry, wasn’t ignoring all this- have just got up. Lots to consider, will have a read and ponder, and get back to you all later.

I had originally gone for the marriage with Harriett, as per familysearch, I’ve yet to track her down in 1891 census but equally couldn’t find a death for her. I was indeed wondering if John had done a runner.

There’s a Harriett H Thorne, b 1868 in Hazelbury Bryan, Dorset, in the 1881 census at Bitton, a servant at St Ann’s vicarage.

I think the year has been mistranscribed. You will find her on the ‘61 and ‘71 censuses with parents Peter and Ann, and siblings. She is 12 in ‘71 and mistranscribed as 21 in 1861. Also as Thorns on the ‘61.

Yes, she is missing on the families ‘81 and they are in Wiltshire. There is a widower visitor Thomas Mullet aged 71 born Hazelbury.

My fault, in a rush this morning  should be b1858.
