An outside possible in 1881

Wesley Place, St Crux, York

Emmanuel Smith, single, 26 b. York
Mary Ann Foster, mother, wid, 46, b. Seamer
Jane Chapman, visitor, widow, 58, b. Seamer

RG11/4724/16/25

Did she have a sister called Mary Ann?

BRILLIANT!!!!!
No, she didn't have a sister, but...
She had a daughter Mary Ann Chapman, born in Seamer in 1835, who would have been 46 in 1881!

This HAS to be it!

Edit: Just looked - Jane would have to be 68 in 1881 not 58, but that could be a simple error.
It also ties in better with the 1813 baptism that I have for her.

:)

Although... wouldn't her relationship to the Head of the household be 'Grandmother' if this was correct?
And I can't find any marriages which fit the Chapman/Smith/Foster puzzle of the three surnames.
Beginning to have my doubts now.

Definitely says 58 when she should have been circa 68 - maybe she didn't like Emmanuel to know her age  ;D
