Wow Sandra, what a great find! Thank you so much. So now we know William Tackaberry was in Wallace as early as 1856. That's around 7 years after my Tackaberrys settled nearby...maybe I need to look into the land records for the area?

According to a family tree this Jane was born 5 January 1837 England and married William Dearing in 1855 Huron.
Parents were John Mitchell (1812 - 1886) and Mary Francis Couch (1812 - 1887)

No sign of William and Jane together in Michigan.  Wonder if William passed away and Jane remarried - more food for thought -

I did see a record of a Jane Tackaberry born Canada 1841 (age would be slightly out)  marriage to a John Roy - Sanilac, Michigan 13 October 1878
John Roy was 38 years. Jane was 37 years.
