Were the Royal Engineers involved in the Berlin Airlift?
« on: Wednesday 28 March 18 21:28 BST (UK) »
Hi

Does anybody know what regiments were involved in the Berlin Airlift Please?

My family have a photo of my uncle at the control centre allegedly talking to pilots during this time.

Just wanting to try and prove if it was possibly true or not. We all know how things get warped in the telling  :D

My Uncle was in the Royal Engineers

Cheers

While this may sound like a recruiting poster, there are vanishingly few operations of that sort that didn't/don't have Royal Engineer involvement.  Airfield repair, bridges, temporary buildings, shifting stores with heavy plant, logistics control etc etc  - they do it.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,

Their motto Ubique matches this pretty well!
