FamilySearch uses FindMyPast's transcription.

Got EM on familysearch now.

The mother is down as wife not head.
Any chance your sources show the preceding page for the father?

The household is in the middle of the page. I haven’t found the father.

I said this family was only a possibility, because the name of the youngest child doesn’t match your 1911, or the shipping list.

Coming from Vilnius (as stated in 1911), the original surname is more likely to have been Peretz/Poritz or variant. If this is the right family, the spelling Parritz was probably just another variant, and the one they chose to adopt in the US.

It’s very difficult doing Jewish research without access to images, because the recording and transcription of foreign names in the census is so poor. Do you perhaps have Ancestry or FindMyPast access at your local library?

I think Ruben is shown as Reuben Hyman Parritz when he was naturalised in Mass. USA in 24 Sep 1923

Added - The record lists his birth as 14 Nov 1899 - Vilna Russia

That's useful to know Kay- so his middle name was Hyman.

I imagine that mum would have needed help with completing the census,so maybe his age got slightly confused in the translation.

I also feel certain this is them, even though there is an obvious age differential.

I have also concluded that children's ages acquired an element of flexibility, perhaps because cross Atlantic shipping tariffs offered a reduced rate for travelling minors.  If so, parents with limited funds may have 'adjusted' their childrens' ages in order to get the best deal.

If nothing else, Harry's birth year confirms that this is certainly the family that appeared on the school registration, for that document gave him a birth year of 1895.

Regards and further thanks Roy G.

You (or your friend) may want to bear in mind that Vilnius is the name of a district at well as a city, so they weren’t necessarily born in the city itself.

In fact, the image of the Massachusetts passenger list give the place of birth of all three as (something that looks like) Stokosok. It's probably the town that is now Stakliskes, in Lithuania, about 70km west of Vilnius.

Some basic information here
https://kehilalinks.jewishgen.org/Stoklishok/Home.html

Registration with JewishGen will be needed to search and perhaps access more details.
