Thanks for your further input.The marriage I think was in 1920 so that makes it about 97 years ago - so presumably is now publicly available?

Perhaps the lady who does obit look ups (reply 3) might be able to help with the marriage - worth asking, you never know.

The Alberta Archives has the death of a John Evans as March 16, 1963. It is first by year, scroll down to 1963.

Evans, John March 16th, aged 87, beloved husband of Mrs. Emily Evans, 3311 60th St. NW., Bowness, born in Wales he served in the Boer War and later came to the Coronation area in 1905,
where he homesteaded, retiring to Calgary in 1942. Also survived by brother Enoch, Coronation.

Many thanks for the details from the Calgary Herald.

My John Evans did not have a brother Enoch so unfortunately it is not my man.

The name is so common - it is difficult to track him down.
