What happened to the Beck boys in North Shields

Hi All,

I'm hoping someone might be able to help trace my great grandfather and two of his son's.

George Beck was born in 1875 and died in 1961 in North Shields. His wife Grace died in 1920 and I'm told after that he lived with lived with his two son's William Smith Beck and John Beck (neither son married).

In 1931 his daughter, Mary Newsom Davidson Beck's marriage register entry has his address as 24 Linskill Street, North Shields and his profession is a "Holder Up".

I'm trying to George, William or John on the 1939 register but can't find any of them. I have searched by name and looked at Linskill Street with no luck.

I know I can't ask for a copy of the register but if anyone can find them and tell me what to search on to find them I'd really appreciate the help.

Could the sons have been young enough to be in the armed services in which case they would not be on the register

I know John joined up, I'm not sure about William.

It explains not finding the boys but not George.

Hi Boo,

Thomas was born in 1910 and William was born in 1901 both in North Shields.

:-) was the other son Thomas or John - or were there  3 sons?

An option would be to search using the surname DECK

D and B often mistrancribed

I think you should try Boo's suggestion of surname Deck
