What happened to the Beck boys in North Shields

There were 8 kids in all:

William Smith (b 1901),
Margaret (b 1904),
Mary Newsom Davidson (b 1907),
George (b 1907),
Thomas Frederick Knock / Knox (b 1910),
John (b 1913),
James Strothard (b 1915)
Matthew (b 1917)

Yes a free search will bring up a family called DECK, doing a few searches using the first names of William S , George and John, specifying Tynemouth CB should get a definite possible for these people. Think the transcription may well have been a Friday afternoon just before home time one :-)

Perhaps the writing of the surname on the original was too ornate

You have probably already tried this - but have you looked in the A-Z files at North Shields local studies?  These folders hold a lot of information about local people and it may be worth a try if you have not looked at these already.

Unfortunately, North Tyneside libraries are closed until Tuesday.

Thanks a lot, it's been a while since I looked through them, I'll have a try next time I can get down there, work keeps getting in the way.

I went this morning to have a look, I hadn't realised it was closed today.

I think the two boys probably did join up, it would be nice to know one way or the other.

You may have to look for him under Beck after all - F M P have been very quick with an error report and amended it from Deck

Yes it 'was' quick, well done FindMyPast :-)

Its always worth sending in the transcription errors, they do amend them though the time before it appears depends on how many they have at any one time.

I must have sent hundreds in over the years, maybe they'll put me on the payroll :-)
