Barque 'Mary E Ray'
« on: Saturday 31 March 18 04:05 BST (UK) »
Hello
Can anyone please help me to sight the original passenger list for the above that sailed from Victoria to Port Chalmers Dunedin 30 March 1862. I think that there is a passenger name transcription error.
Thanking you :) :) :)

All surviving passenger lists held by NZ archives are digitised and indexed on FamilySearch.

https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/1609792

Outbound passenger lists from Victoria are on fiche/film at PROV and some libraries.

Thanks Dundee
the family search records are not available for that date. I live in NZ so was hoping someone would have access to prov and maybe take a photo or similar.  :)

Hi Elan,
As you live in NZ have you tried search on "Papers Past"
for arrivals 1862.

sks with an Ancestry.com subscription may find it for you.

Hi Elan,  Looked up "Trove" here in Oz.  The Leader Melbourne Newspaper Sat 29 March 1862 reported the "Mary E Ray" departed 28 March 1862 with 190 passengers bound for Port Chalmers, Dunedin.
No passenger names.
If you want to give me the passenger name of interest, I could look up Family Search for you.
Also I regularly visit my local Library which has Ancestry and Find My Past available for its readers - could search those sites for you later this week.

Thanks for the offer Clan I appreciate that. FindMyPast only has the record typed. I need to see the handwritten original copy.  Any other suggestions greatly appreciated :).

That could be a challenge.
Suggest you try Dunedin Libraries.
Both Auckland and Christchurch Libraries have been a great
help to me.
