Please help...So confused!!!
« on: Monday 02 April 18 04:31 BST (UK) »
Good morning lovely Rootschatters

I am seriously confused and would appreciate some help.

I am currently researching Benjamin Fisher, born in 1871 in Wandsworth to Edward James Fisher and Martha Clark. Benjamin married Adelaide Wynn Vick in 1897 in Wandsworth. Until a few days ago I believed that their two daughters, Gwendoline Nora Fisher (b. 1906) and Nellie May Fisher (b. 1911) were their only two children, however I have found a birth on the GRO for Lionel Jack Fisher born 1901 in Wandsworth, MMN Vick. The reason I believed that Gwendoline and Nellie were their only two children is because on the 1911, its listed that they only had two children born and they were still alive at the time of the census. However, Nellie's birth was registered in the Oct-Nov-Dec quarter.

So my question is: did they register Nellie on the 1911 census, despite the fact that she wasn't born (Adelaide would have still been pregnant), or is Nellie their 3rd child? If that is the case, where is Lionel Jack Fisher in 1911 as he isn't on the census with the rest of the family and I can't seem to find him anywhere. Or is Lionel Jack Fisher not related to Benjamin and Adelaide at all??

I found him. Living with his grandparents, and the person who transcribed the 1911 census with him in has listed him as Lionel Jack Suker. But when i looked at the actual census, it says Fisher. Woohoo.

i figured i would follow the other family members for both sides and thats how i found him. But i also discovered that Nellie May Fisher wasn't the third child of Benjamin and Adelaide. They only had the two children :)

The birth is indexed twice probably because the information on the birth certificate indicates that they were not married (no 'formerly').  The Benjamin and Adelaide of this thread were married in 1897 and her maiden surname was VICK.

Adelaide Dyer (mn Latham) was the widow of Ernest James Dyer (buried April 3 1911)

Pointing it out in case Benjamin re-married ("legally" or "Illegally").
In case Adelaide (Vick) had died/etc...

Thanks for helping

Benjamin died in 1934 in his sleep and Adelaide died in 1967.

I actually have Benjamin's funeral memorial card which is how i know when he died and someone has written on it when Adelaide died
