Birth/baptism of Elizabeth BALLARD abt 1678 onwards
« on: Monday 02 April 18 08:51 BST (UK) »
Slim pickings unfortunately and it will be a minor miracle to locate Elizabeth's baptism or even William's baptism as I have no more to go on other than this minuscule bit of information.

Elizabeth BALLARD & William SHELTON married at Whetstone, Leicestershire 18 Apr 1703.

The marriage record makes no mention of Elizabeth or Williams location at marriage.

That is the sum total of what I know of William and Elizabeth before their marriage.

Fingers crossed that someone with better research skills than my poor efforts will be able to assist.

Possibilities in your timescale:

Elizabeth Ballard:
16 December 1670 - Kirby Muxloe - Thomas and Mary
20 August 1671 - Cadeby - John and Elizabeth
18 June 1676 - Gilmorton - Edward and Ann

William Shelton:
No baptisms 1627 - 1693
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Do you think there is another possible baptism for William in a shire that perhaps borders on Leicestershire?

BUT Elizabeth Ballard married William SHENTON in 1703  :o

Only possibility shown is:

Cosby - 10 August 1651 - son of Thomas and Anne

I had seen that and thought perhaps it was incorrectly spelled as I have seen a few variations to the surname.

What do you think??

The marriage entry is very clear as Shenton.

Ok.  Then it seems I need to go back to the drawing board.

My starting point was Robert SHELTON son of William SHELTON and Elizabeth.  Baptised 20 Apr 1712 Wycomb & Chadwell.

Its the marriage of Roberts parents I am seeking.  Any ideas???

Yes, I can see the baptism - and William has died, prior to birth/baptism.

William buried 4 August 1711 and he is a butcher.

Other baptisms at Wycombe and Chadwell to William and Elizabeth Shelton:

Francis - 10 April 1706
John - 8 August 1708
Elizabeth - 1 October 1710

Could this be the marriage for William and Elizabeth - transcription only from FS via FindMyPast

Radford, Nottinghamshire - 1705 - no date - William Shelton and Elizabeth Collishaw
