Have you written to the Lisburn Advertiser?


The OP could, but in the circumstances I would then question if anything specifically related to this, reported by the Lisburn Advertiser, was accurate. :)

Surely there must be an authoritative or 'contactable' resource on- or off- line which can confirm whether Thomas was awarded an 'OBE' or a 'BEM'?

That's the one, Andy is trying to get more information in NI.

I found an Ancestry tree with him so was trying to contact the owner of the tree but no answer and he seems to have disappeared from their tree since I asked.

Medals for RAF Heroes

Two Airmen Corporal Joseph Graham Michael Davies and Air craftman (1st Class) Thomas McCann approached a crashed and burning aircraft and succeeded in detaching guns and magazines, both men displayed conspicuous gallantry, They have been awarded the Medal of the Military Division of the O.B.E. for their bravery.
