James Reid and Mary Jane Quinn
« on: Monday 02 April 18 18:39 BST (UK) »
I would welcome any information, particularly a birth record, for either a James Reid born between 1859-1861 or a Mary Jane Quinn b. 1861. James was the son of a Joseph Reid and Mary was the daughter of James Quinn. The following links are for the marriage record of James Reid and Mary Jane Quinn - 10th February 1881 - as well as the 1901 and 1911 Irish census records.

According to the marriage record Mary Jane was from Carnfinton and James appears to be from Granagh. They had a total of 15 children all of whom were born in Carnfinton.

Since marriages usually taken place in the bride's church it's possible that Rasharkin Presbyterian Church is the one her family attended. Both the 1901 and 1911 census list the family as Church of Ireland so James' family probably were also.
PRONI's holdings-
Rasharkin C.O.I. records- baptisms 1871- , marriages 1845- , etc.
Rasharkin Presbyterian records- baptisms 1834-1919
The former Coleraine North of Ireland Family History Society purchased copies of PRONI's microfilmed records for the Irish Room which then went to Coleraine Library when the Irish Room closed. Library being refurbished now but I think it might be that Portstewart is holding the microfilms at present. The Family History Society might also have the records in their online collection for members. Hopefully someone will be able to verify or correct this.

There are fragments of the 1851 census covering some of Rasharkin area here-

Are you sure the groom's name is Jas [James] and not Jos [Joseph] on the marriage?
Witnesses were James Dysart & Matilda Fenton (there were Fentons in Carnfinton).
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
