How sure is your cousin, that he was born Shipton, Oxfordshire.  What evidence is there.

I would assume it is Shipton under Wychwood, Oxfordshire.  I cannot find anything online.  I'm not sure what is covered in the Oxfordshire Parish records on Ancestry.

There is a baptism in Shipston-On-Stour,Worcestershire, for a John Halford, in 1797.

Shipston-On-Stour,Worcestershire, borders Oxfordshire.

No record in either Shipton on Cherwell or Shipton under Wychwood parish records transcripts.

Ancestry no showing anything either.

Hi,

I would suggest your cousin has a a look on FamilySearch which is free.

There are a number of possiblities ranging in names such as; Elford, Alford, Halford, Halfyard etc.
also in range of years from 1790s to 1810 approx

Try this (shrunk) link;
