Many thanks for your replies and help. Boy he did have a problem didn't he. Thanks for the link to Papers Past. I had found him in the Police Gazette but not come across him in any newspapers so many thanks. I would like to see what the inquest has to say because he was killed on the railway line on 4th December 1944. Not a surprise really now.
I am in the UK and Beech emigrated to Australia in 1924 how he ended up in New Zealand I will never know. I cannot find much on him. Would you know of anywhere to look for passengers sailing from Australia to New Zealand by any chance? I will certainly post a new thread about the inquest and contact Gary Gleeson too.
