Wounded

My late Uncle served in North Africa in the war I know by  reading his service records he was wounded is there any way I could find how badly this was as he never spoke about it

The MOD won't release medical records held on WW2 individuals so I don't think there is any way to determine exactly what the problem was if his record simply has "wounded".

You may be able to tell from his records how long he was in hospital, that may give a sense of the seriousness.  Ideally there will be an "admitted" entry with a hospital and a date and later a "discharged" also with a date.  Records aren't always ideal though!  You could post the relevant bits of his record perhaps?

The first session of nearly four weeks ended with him going back to (presumably) his unit (2 Lancashire Fusiliers?) so he must have been fit for duty.  What happened after the second session of almost a month?  Did he go back again to duty or did he return home for discharge?

(Just trying to piece clues together)

Next to discharge from hospital it's says To 4BU IRT next letter I can't work out then x4 Under that it says Awarded 1st Army Clasp Salerno R C x4 Then TOS 2nd Am ? Have to try and work out what else it says

While it won't answer your original question, "translating" the hieroglyphics may be of interest.   It looks as if he didn't return to a service unit after the second hospitalisation but although a number of the notes are clear it is invariably easier to interpret a record from the original, looking at other pages that cross reference to the one you are looking at. I have sent a PM.
