Whereabouts of Frances Grainger after arrival as an Albertlander

I'd like to find out what Frances Grainger (and son Alfred) did after they disembarked the Victory in 1865. They arrived as mother and son under second class tickets. They arrived with the Albertlanders of the day but may not have been Albertlanders (Frances was born and raised an Anglican). There appears to be no record of them from the time of their arrival in New Zealand and 1870 when Alfred is recorded as a clerk and they purchased land in Auckland. How would I find out if they were part of the Albertlander settlement and if they were granted land. This would tell me where they were for the five years before purchasing land in Dedwood, Auckland later known as Ponsonby.
