Newcastle upon Tyne street names in the 1851 census
« on: Wednesday 04 April 18 13:27 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help please? I used to have a document on my PC which listed all of the streets  in the different wards of Newcastle for the different census'. Said document has disappeared and I wondered if anyone knows of a same or similar list. I have tried for hours searching online without any luck.

Do you mean the Archives:Historical Streets Project, http://www.rootschat.com/links/0yeo/
This link works https://goo.gl/5Fxgk2
This includes Street Indexes for the  1841, 1851, 1861, 1871 and 1891 censuses.

Gives a 404, Stan. I think it's been archived.  A quick search  and click on the various census year links and they'll come up:

Although it shows the A-Bs on the listing, if you click on the link, you can scroll down to the Newcastle ones.

That's the fault of the RootsChat Shrink Link, I should have checked it. This one works https://goo.gl/5Fxgk2

Stan

Old links are nuisance - found some others the other day.

Think the relevant section in your link is:

Quote
Browsing

Go to the relevant Category to see which registration districts are included - those which have been indexed will have the format Place:name of registration district, census year street index, for example Place:Chelsea Registration District, 1851 Census Street Index:
        Category:1841 census registration districts
        Category:1851 census registration districts
        Category:1861 census registration districts
        Category:1871 census registration districts
        Category:1891 census registration districts
Click on the letter of the alphabet that you want to go to.

It is not an old link, I did it for the post using the RootsChat Shrink Link. I Have had this problem before with the RootsChat one, and I always check the link works, but forgot to do it this time.

That's interesting Stan.

The only difference in the full links is a %20 in the first  one and a + in the other. Wonder why  ???

I've only had problems with very long links before but will check in future.
